As long as I can remember I have loved animals, especially dogs. But as a child growing up in Amsterdam (NL) in an appartment, it was impossible to keep any kind of dog.
After my marriage we soon moved to the Dutch countryside, where I got my first dog and not long after that the second one came. These dogs were Leonbergers. After a few years I started to breed.
At that time Chatka, Antar and Arras were the dogs I started the kennel with. This explains the name of my kennel Chatkantarra’s. For ten years I have successfully bread them.
At the end of those ten years I had a friend who not only had Leonbergers, but also Newfys. I was very charmed by these black bears, that I promised myself to get such a dog once in the near future. When I visited dog shows in London, I was very impressed by the imported Newfoundlanders from Denmark.
Out of this kind of breed I got my first Newfoundland puppy, his name was Lebeau van de Tafelronde. Not long after I bought a bitch in Denmark.
After a while I saw a white and black Newfoundland dog and fell in love. With this color in mind I found Amorada’s Loverboy (Shardik) in Norway. This dog meant a lot for me and some European kennels. Unfortunately he died much to early.
From him and Bear in Mind, from Italy, I got Vertigo Rolling Stone for Chatkantarra (Jagger).
From this line is Int. Champ/ Lux. Champ Thorin aus der Mackenmühle, Titania aus der Mackenmühle and Chatkantarra’s Ixcharni.
Also from Shardik and Shooting Star vom Schwarzen Bären (Austria) came Bärenkind Athropa Bella Donna. Donna is the ancestress of my white and black’s.
Meanwhile I bought in Denmark Mount Cook Qennedy (Q) and Mount Cook Quality Street.
Q became VDH Champ and Int. Champ, out of him I got the very popular G-litter, such as Gabor, Geronimo, Grease, Grandessa and Ghiagina.
In the summer of 2004 we moved to our new home in Rinchnach, Germany, (Click here for the Rinchnach website.) together with twelve Newf’s, a German Shepherd, two American Cockers and some other small animals, like cats and birds.

We love to be here in Bayern. (Bavaria) It is a beautiful place to live for us and for the dogs.
